Let’s get something straight right away. This blog has been temporarily taken over by some of us animals! I, Kirrie (pictured on the header above), will be your host for a special project coming from the International Institute for Animal Assisted Play Therapy®. That’s a group of people who work with kids, families, and animals. I think you’re going to love what we have in store for you! We’re calling it Animals Speak! This is for kids of all ages, even grown-up kids, if there is such a thing!
For starters, here I am to explain it. To get started, please click my name: Kirrie.
We hope to do a little blogging and then a little vlogging to give you some information, tell you a little about how we animals deal with stuff–even stuff we don’t like very much, and maybe even give some playful ideas about things you can do, too! If you have some things you’d like us to talk about here, you can send them to my typist, Risë VanFleet, via email. We will do our best.
So, on with the show!
Our first guest on our program will be Theo. Theo likes to hang out with his human, Karen Boe. Theo is going to tell us a little bit about this virus thing going on. He has a good idea of how to explain it very simply! Click on his name to watch: Theo.
I hope you found that helpful! Theo is pretty brainy – he knows a lot of stuff.
Next up we have Carly! Carly lives and works with Tracy Turner-Bumberry. Carly is going to tell us about something she really doesn’t like to do very much and how she is dealing with that. There’s just a little vibration in the sound with Carly’s video, but you should still be able to hear it okay. Carly says it’s because she has such an electrifying personality! Ha! Anyway, be sure to click on her name to watch: Carly
Well, folks, that gets us started. We have more dogs and some other species who will be sharing their thoughts and ideas in days to come. We hope to bring another set of messages to you very soon! If you think you’ve missed any of our doggy vloggy blogs, you can check right here. Stay tuned!
Signing off for now,
Animals Speak! is a project of the International Institute of Animal Assisted Play Therapy® featuring therapists and their animals from all over the world who have been trained in AAPT. The purpose is to provide child-friendly information about topics related to the pandemic, along with some fun or interesting ideas to help kids of all ages cope with what is going on.
